Jade Chowning, Paralegal & Researcher

Jade is a Paralegal and Researcher at the Detroit Justice Center. She graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a BA in political science and human rights. While in college, she ran tutoring programs at a local youth prison and helped organize volunteers to support community-based reentry organizations. She was an inaugural summer fellow at the initiative that successfully aimed to bring credit-granting Yale courses into the Connecticut prison system.

Originally from Seattle, Jade returns to Detroit after previously working for DJC as a summer intern. Before joining DJC, she was a research assistant at the Political Violence FieldLab, an immigration casework and outreach intern for Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), and a political advocacy intern at the ACLU of Washington.
